The community of Albert Lea, MN showed up at Pioneer Park on Labor Day morning in support of the AARP / Blue Zones Vitality Project Labor Day picnic. People began showing up before 5:30 am on Labor Day in support of the project, and to be seen on Good Morning America.
It was a great opportunity to see friends and neighbors, and to share the best meal of the day. This program has brought the community to a whole new level of friendship. We were always known as Minnesota Nice, but this program has really brought that feeling of community up several more levels.
Dan Buettner was able to share with America on GMA what Albert Lea has been working on since being chosen as the pilot project back in January of this year. It is always a pleasure to be involved with such great organizations as the Blues Zones, AARP, United Health Foundations, and all of the media that has been so willing to showcase what a small community in Minnesota has been able to accomplish
