About Me

I live on James Island, SC, which is technically Charleston according to the USPS! I have lived on James Island since January 1998 when we moved into his house after we married in 1995. I have two boys from a previous marriage, ages 34 and 38. They have given us 2 beautiful grandchildren, one boy and one girl, and now my youngest is expecting their 2nd in July this year! Bill has one daughter and she and her husband have 2 boys also. I love being a Grandma! I love the outdoors so I love gardening, both flower and vegetable and also my first love of birdwatching. I adore my feathered friends! I am retired from Federal Civil Service and also enjoy reading and going to the gym in my spare time

Your pictures are great.  I love the bluebirds.  My husband was a dedicated bluebirder, and on our 4 acres we managed (in some years) to get three pairs.  (Meant he had to continually get rid of sparrows) But they really put on a show.  My husband died and I had to move to town, but I have my memories.   Rosie

Thank you Rosie! Yes, I dearly love my bluebirds! I live in suburbia so don't have a lot of space for the blues here, but sometimes I manage to have them nest in my nestbox. I have to compete with some ..humm, let me see how to put this.... not so smart neighbors. For some reason the blues prefer their nestbox, despite the fact these people have two outside cats that roam all over their yard, and my yard too!!! They are NOT dedicated birdwatchers like I am, yet the birds always seem to have at least two broods there and maybe one in mine. I know what you mean about managing house sparrows, I've already had to build a sparrow spooker to put on top of my box this year because one of them was going in and out of it. Gosh, I hate those awful HOSPS!!!
Thanks again, I will try to post some more pictures of my blues soon.
