Note: I was impressed to edit this "Description" and Post it as a Journal. Why? Because this Experience Speaks of God's Glory... I wanted to make sure folks who were "just passing through" may have a greater chance of reading about God and His Mercy...

"21 And Strong As I Could Be" (Reminds me of a Song)!

Post MotorBike Accident and after 4 Weeks in Contact Isolation (Total: 6 Weeks in Hospital), this is the first time I had seen Rosie without her wearing a Surgical Gown. When I saw her, I dubbed her "Toothpick Chick". For "Some Reason" she had been so worried about me that she must'a forget to eat a meal or two =o)

Anyway, before my Bike Accident, I already had the Hair... But this is my First and Last Beard. Unlike many guys, once it "grew on me", I "never left home without it". My Cute Young Nurses (next pic) dubbed me "Jesus". Can't Imagine Why? Maybe because I was in a "Constant State" or Prayer, asking The Lord to Save My Leg (The Rest of me was already "Saved" =o)

Long Story Short: After four surgeries, the first two with a 50-50 Chance of waking up without a left leg, the second two involved bone grafts and skin graphs. What it really INVOLVED was a MIRACLE! For some Reason, God chose to Heal Me, Saving My Leg! My Surgeon, and "Unbeliever" before my mom got a'hold of him- Believed only in himself and his abilities (which explains why what he "accomplished" was published in at least one medical journal) I said all that to say this: When he was confident that he would not have to amputate my leg (which he said if he saved I would never bend my knee or ankle, not realizing God had another BETTER IDEA) he explained the phenomenal success to my mom and dad... As he walked away, he turned back, looked at my mom, and with a smile on his face said, "I guess there is a God after all. Is that KEWL or WHAT! GOD IS GOOD! By the way, he did most of the work pro-bono. The TOTAL BILL for a Six Week Hospital Stay with four lengthy surgeries and one year follow up therapy = Only $10K! Imagine that... It probably takes about $10K per day just for a private room in hospital today =o)

If you have read this far, One of these days I'll have to tell you about the Angel Who Ministered to me in the wee hours of the morning the night after my Emergency Surgery... Now that's a Sweet, Sweet Memory!

Far Out!! I was glad to hear that she was an older lady because I was probably working that night over on the other side of the country and since I hated all the "girl talk" in the Nurses Station I spent lots of time visiting with a sleepless patient. I'm serious....that was my shift and I'd rather talk quietly with a patient who needed a friend than spend the wee hours with women who were having cat fights and talking about each other and their "lousy" husbands. Weird....but true! I'm glad your ministering angel stayed close and gave you so much comfort, my friend

Yes! My Angel was in a Nurse's Uniform... She "Ministered" to me after Rosie finally felt comfortable enough to go home to clean up and put on some shoes (that's another story =o) My mom and dad were in route from Augusta to Blacksburg... Slowing creeping through the mountain roads (prior to Interstate 77 being completed). It was on October 15, the leaves had just fallen... daddy could not see the lines on the mountain roads! But did that stop them from immediately packing and and heading for Blacksburg-- nothing would keep them away from me, their baby =o) WoW! My Parents!

Any way, Rosie and I were all "alone", far from home, with only a few new friends... That first night after Emergency Surgery there was this "Sweetest Late Middled Aged Nurse", who reminded me of my mother, who "Ministered" to me... Telling me that it would be okay, my parents were on the way, Rosie was safe at home, praying with me, comforting me, holding my hand, even telling me God was going to use my surgeon to save my leg... I was in God's Hands! All through the Wee Hours of the morning, she was in and out of my room-- more in than out... Early in the Morning, when my parents arrived with Rosie, I told them all about the "Special Nurse", who apparently was on duty for the 11p-7a Shift. The Day Shift Nurses were not "exactly sure" who I was talking about...

My mom stayed around the next night to "Thank Her" for taking care of her "Baby" for her... When my nurse did not show, I asked the Charge Nurse about my nurse from the night before ( for some reason, I could no longer remember her name)... As I described her in detail, The Charge Nurse said, "I'm sorry, but we didn't have a nurse working last night that looks like that"... Never saw her again!

Makes you Wonder... "Let brotherly love continue. Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares (Hebrews 13:1-2)"
