One of the things I was grateful for this week touched on the legacy of how to view myself, and the world around me, as conveyed by my family. A specific recollection from things my mom told me got some language here:
Not only did these thoughts stand the test of decades of time, and all the youthful thrashing in the early part thereof. But they are now having their ripple effect with others as I retold them over the years. I can’t recall how many times I shared the illustration on choices that I found so gripping, before I got around to capturing it in writing online.
Can’t put a price on it, can’t measure where all it goes. That’s what is amazing to consider about what family at its best can offer, and one way that I spell "gratitude" today.
Thanks, Lady, for your comments, and for saying 'howdy' as a former resident in Truman country!
Noticed you listed Oklahoma as another of your stops along the way. We have roots there as well, so always take note when someone mentions it. Family still live there so we're back a few times a year.
Thanks David for the reminder that a grateful heart for all things in our life (that usually comes with 20/20 hindsight) reaffirms our journey and appreciation for all the people (good and bad) that have graced our lives and taught us life lessons. Used to live in Blue Springs, MO so know your area well. Thanks for your thoughts, I am new to retirement and AARP. ladylookn4tramp
