About Me

Interests:
I enjoy reading, sewing, knitting, crocheting, and gardening. I knit and crochet prayer shawls for the most part; I sew stuffed dolls and animals, quilt blocks, and clothing; I read most anything I can--fiction and nonfiction--but murder mysteries are my favorite; I have both flower beds and vegetable garden, as well as a small orchard of dwarf fruit trees on our half-acre lot in town

Welcome to the knitting group. It sounds like you have quite a variety of interests, besides knitting. Wht kinds of fruit trees do you have? That, in itself, takes a great deal of your time. What kinds of clothing do you knit?
I, myself, am the world's greatest procrastinator when it comes to my knitting. I have projects in various stages of completion. Right now, right next to my chair, is a purse ready for felting (I am finishing the i-cords), a drop-stitch scarf, a Wallaby sweater almost complete, and yarn ready to begin a new project. I have more projects that are complete, they are just ready to be put together (for instance, a melon cardigan downstairs and a pullover for my cousin). When I tire of one, I just go to the next. :-)
We had snow this morning. Unbelievable, isn't it? But that's Michigan for you. Spring is having a hard time coming into Michigan this year.
I hope to have chats with you. If you have a knitting problem, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Hi, Bev,
I see you are from Dearborn. I don't know if you know where Three Rivers is or not, but it is about 20 miles south of Kalamazoo. We had snow here this morning, too, but not enough to cover the ground.
I have 2 apple trees, 4 peach, 2 pear, 2 sweet cherry, and one edible crabapple. We have gotten peaches and pears, but no good apples yet, and the cherry have only been in two years this spring so they are not ready to bear yet.
Nearly all of my knitting the last year or so has been Prayer Shawls for church. The last garments were cap and scarf sets for my 10 (at the time) great-nieces and nephews and my daughter-in-law's 3 grandchildren. I did make a set for myself while I was at it. I made the kids set from Boa eyelash yarn, and mine from one of the fur yarns. It was the first time I had used any of the fancy ones, and I really liked working with it once I got used to it.
I have been knitting since I was about 12 years old and took it as a 4-H project. I made nearly all my sweaters and hats all the way through high school and college. When my son was growing up, I made most of his, too.
I can relate to the procrastination and having several projects going at the same time. I tend to do that most of the time. Right now, I have three prayer shawls that are completely done, two that just need the ends woven in, and two that are half done. I have other crafts that I enjoy doing too, but I managed to finish up the last of them (stamped note cards) for a silent auction at church to raise money for camp scholarships.
Thank you for writing, and it would be nice to have chats. I'm finally getting used to being on the internet, and actually getting to know people from all over.

Hi, Arbeat...

I always thought that a variety of dishcloths, both knitted and crocheted, would make a beautiful "afghan". I enjoy making them (tho' I haven't done so in awhile), but then I end up giving them away or using them myself. I think what I enjoy the most about them is that they are quick projects and always with something new, pattern-wise, so they're never boring!

I have several projects "in-the-works"...a knitted afghan...a crocheted vest...and even a half-done man's cable-knit sweater that I started for a boyfriend years ago, and then broke up with him before it was completed! LOL (It's bright yellow, which is definitely not "in" these days, so I'm trying to figure how to turn it into a large-dog sweater! LOL I'm serious!)

I would love to have a veggie garden, but I think the only full-sun area we have is our front yard! I've tried tomatoes twice without much luck, and last year I planted a few radishes, peas, and potatoes out in one of my perennial beds...again with no luck! You're so fortunate!

I would love to see what you've done...but right now am having a problem seeing any photos on this forum due to a mistake I made while uploading pics to my profile. I'm working on it, so hope to see everyone again soon (all the pics are empty frames here on my 'puter)!
