"Freefall"..

I'm finding my way into the tunnel of 'pre-retirement' planning!  Living in the Central Sierra Nevada and working in the Bay Area/E.San Francisco Bay, I will be making changes at the end of the next school year/2010, when I plan to retire.  A widow for 6 years, I'm starting to explore what fulltime life in the mountains might be like.  It's exciting and scary!!

My daughter and her husband teach fine arts at the university level.  Mary Elizabeth just completed her doctoral dissertation in performing arts; Rich is a sculptor, teacher, and photographer.  They will be living between Ann Arbor & Detroit; Mary is a professor at Wayne State University, Detroit.  Both are native Californians who are longing to return here, as opportunities become available.  If they were able to "return home", it would be of great comfort to me as well!

My two sisters & brother are in the Southeast (Atlanta, GA. & Chapel Hill, N.C.).  One consideration of mine is whether or not I might want to relocate 'back South'.  I'm presently looking at the area around New Bern, N.C.; the mountains of N.C./Tennessee are attractive as well.

Well Hello there, wanjie ~ Thank you so much; you are too kind! I shall now go read about "You" & "Yours" and then get back to you.

Yes, I agree, it 'is' about time I created another journal entry! Let's see; I must do some thinking & writing, some thinking & writing!!! I have the week-end; there's no excuse! How lovely of you to prompt me (lol)! Thank you. I'll bet you have journal entries, don't you?!

May your week-end be the most serene! It is just exquisite here in the Central Sierra. Fall is my favorite season; October, my favorite month; it 'all' almost here!!! On Fridays, I drive three hours from the Bay Area (where I work and keep a tiny apt.) to my home here in the mountains, close to Yosemite. For me, there is just nothing quite like waking up early on a Saturday...in my own home in the mountains! I put on the Starbuck's French Roast, get out the double chocolate milk to 'spike' the coffee, slice (very thinly) the Swiss cheese to munch with the coffee, turn on the sprinklers (the groundcover is 'so' thirsty from the warm temps. T-Th, when I wasn't here to give it a drink!), adjust my chairs on the deck, sit back, draw a deep breath, & meditate on the beauty & serenity of the Sierra! Cheers, Anna
