So remember, greatness and rewards are perhaps within your grasp if you see the needs of the people about you and apply yourself to fulfilling their needs.

About Me

AARP Foundation - West Virginia Programs -- The AARP Foundation operates several programs to improve the lives of older West Virginians, including: The West Virginia Senior Medicare Patrol (WV SMP) is a consumer education project dedicated to preventing Medicare and Medicaid fraud, error, waste and abuse. Trained retired professionals educate older West Virginians and their advocates on identification and reporting of Medicare and Medicaid fraud and abuse. Benefits QuickLINK (BQL) is a web-based resource that screens people for the most important federal and state public benefits. The mission of BQL is to help West Virginians 50 and over and their families connect with public and private benefits for which they are eligible. West Virginia ElderWatch (WVEW) is a state-based AARP Foundation program established to protect older adults from financial related fraud and other forms of consumer abuse. WVEW provides services that include a toll-free consumer hotline and peer-to-peer counseling. The West Virginia Consumer Fraud Prevention project (WV CFP) engages older volunteers in contacting known and potential fraud victims and alerting them to the dangers of telemarketing and other types of fraud. Volunteers work in a call center, from which they place telephone calls to vulnerable individuals to offer prevention messages about the dangers of ongoing consumer fraud scams. The West Virginia Money Management Program (WV MMP) promotes independent living for low-income older adults and people with disabilities who have difficulty handling their own financial affairs. They may be in danger of eviction from their homes or having their utilities turned off. Family, friends or caregivers may exploit them. These people are at risk of losing their independence simply because they are unable to handle their finances.
