About Me

Hi y'all. I'm married for close to 30 years to a wonderful lady and we live in League City, TX. League City is about 1/2 way between Galveston and Houston, TX. I retired in 1999 and I ride a 2005 Honda Gold Wing with a Motor Trike kit. This, for those who don't know, is a trike or three wheeler. My wife, Susie doesn't ride although she doesn't like to hear that statement. I respect her fear of the bike and have never tried to force her to ride with me. She will occassionally ride locally but it isn't her favorite thing to do. We each have two grown children each from prior marriages with a couple of grand children. Susie has two with one more on the way

Interests:
Walking, riding my motorcycle. Cooking outdoors on my Big Green Egg. Reading books and listening to music

It tells me I’m not complete till I write my journal. Not feeling and never having felt that I have writing skills, I have neglected this part of my profile. The rules and regs call this similar to a blog. I don’t even really know what a blog is. This is a new term in the last year or two but AARP seems to describe, to me and my memory from when I read this some time back, as a diary. Something we might do daily. Now, that I can do, but then I read that I must make facial expressions as I tell my storys to make them more interesting. I read things like Regina’s (Gina) piece in The Coffee Shop (one of our groups) and I think, Ray, you can’t write like that Lady and don’t you wish you could. Anyway enough.

Today, I rode my bike to Galveston and had a cup of coffee at Starbucks which is something I enjoy doing and I can sit outside and watch the people coming off the Carnival cruise ship Ecstasy or returning to the ship.

I continued to read a novel written by one of my classmates named Cisco 3. Clenny Terrell, whom I went to school with, wrote this book and I must admit, I’m quite taken with it. The book is available from Amazon.com or from the publisher Tate Publishing. I spent part of my morning reading the book sitting outside and also people watching. The cruise ship terminal is just across the street and I'm able to watch everything from the taxi's waiting for fares to the ship mates and the travelers parting or boarding the ship.

Quite often I will ride to Galveston for a cup of coffee and watch the world go by and reflect on what is and what could be. It was a good day.

Ray,

How did you and Susie make out with the storm? I really worried about you guys especially since you were off-line so long. It's nice to have you back. Edith

Ms. Edith, we lost our ridge vents and therefore took some rain in the attic. Wet insulation and some of the rain came into the kitchen light fixture. The ceiling fans on the patio took a beating and I had a friend who said he took his blades off his fans. A neighbor tied hers in two different directions. Neither of these thoughts occured to me. So, either with or without Wind Storm insurance, they need replacing. We've got the painting done, the new ridge vents and some new shingles on the roof, and the electrician is coming in the am to replace and rewire the light fixtures in the kitchen. So, we are making progress. Seabrook, Kemah, Galveston, Port Boliver, Gilcrest are all places that took a beating and Port Boliver and Gilcrest are litterly gone. As in missing. Major damage in the Seabrook and Kemah areas including San Leon, so I feel we did very well here. No salt water in the house like so many folks are dealing with and those are the fortunate ones. Many, many have no homes left at all. We are not on the major news because we are not a population such as New Orleans with 450,000 residents nor is Galveston that well known. There are still boats on the sides of the Interstate hwy once you get to Galveston from Houston.

Have a wonderful evening Ms. Edith.
