IN HONOR OF ALL VETERANS, AND IN MEMORY OF MY DAD

Well, at least it's supposed to be fall!!  today, our high is supposed to be around 90, (and it's gonna make it).  Then the next few days are gonna be really cool. (even 40's one night.)  quite a difference.  But that's how the weather is here,  if you don't like it, just stick around a few days and it'll change!!

I am getting out my halloween (or fall)   decorations.  Got my scarecrows out  and now have a couple of pumpkins out.  That's probably gonna be it.

We have been busy doing a little "upgrading" to the house.  -- new windows, new facings inside and out,   painting the doors,  and put up a new storm door.    Put a "chair rail" or wainscot in living room on one wall and painted bottom of paneling.  We had already painted our hall  this summer.

Boy, I'd sure like to do a lot more, but you know, there's that thing called "money"........We want to redo the bathroom and put in a walk-in shower and get rid of the garden tub, since neither of us takes a bath anymore.  Well,  hubby says come help, he is making a hat rack for daughter in law's birthday.  gotta go.

   August is here, summer will soon be over, and school starts in a couple of weeks.  Gee, where did June and July go?    I am ready for cooler weather for sure.  Ready to go  ........ 

Been so busy with garden, and  still have peas, have some fall ones planted.  The tomatoes are gone, but have 6 plants out for fall.   Just finished putting up a 5 gallon bucket of pears (2nd one)  and have figs in the freezer that I will make preserves out of later on.    Set out 24 collard plants yesterday.  We will plant Kale and Turnip greens soon.  We will share the greens with widows and others in our church.   

So, I have had a pretty busy summer.  How about you?   

I GOT AN EMAIL TODAY FROM A FRIEND THAT SAID THEY HAD SENT ME PICS FROM "TAGGED".  I COULDN'T FIND THE PICS, SO EMAILED THEM BACK AND THEY CALLED ME AND SAID THEY NEVER SENT IT TO ME.  THEY HAD RECEIVED IT AND DID AS I DID AND TRIED TO FIND THE PICS, SO GUESS IT SENT IT TO EVERYONE IN THEIR ADDRESS BOOK.....DON'T KNOW IF IT'S A VIRUS OR A SCAM OR WHAT....SO IF YOU GET ONE, DO NOT OPEN IT!

Our bluebirds came back again this year and built their nest in the gourd we have hanging.    They worked to build the nest.  and then Mama Bluebird moved in.    In a short time, they were feeding babies!    Then week end before Mother's day week end,  we had a bad storm.  Mama bluebird never came back!  They had 5 baby birds.  But Daddy bluebird has come through!  he is about to work himself to death feeding those babies.  2 fell out and were killed. another one fell out on top of one and my Hubby put it back in the nest, and it is still alive.  They seem to be about feathered out and are poking their heads out the hole in the gourd.  Won't be long until  they fly away.  It is amazing how the Daddy bluebird is taking such good care of them!   If I could give him a reward I would.  I tried putting some worms near the nest so he could find them easily, but  guess he didn't want those. He ignored them and flew away to forage for food.

WATER FREELY WITH PATIENCE AND CULTIVATE WITH LOVE.. THERE IS MUCH FRUIT IN YOUR GARDEN BECAUSE YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW.   NOT BAD,HUH?!

 

My grandson went home from the hospital today........Praise God.  We are so Thankful!!

This is a true story, the names have not been changed, since there were no "innocent".

A couple years ago, on a summer night; I went to sit on the back door steps and drink a glass of tea.

It was a beautiful summer night, stars twinkling and big moon shining.

As I sat there, I suddenly see a blue-green dome shaped light in my back yard.  Small, but there about 15 or 20 feet in the air.   At first I thought it was my son's "night light" in his yard. Then I see that his light is visible through the trees to the left.  Well, the neighbors don't have a light in their yard.  Besides, it is the wrong shape for a "night light".    Then I think, Oh, surely not a UFO.  I've heard of such things, but not so sure I believe.  Well, I kept watching and it didn't move, at all!! Were there little "green" men in there!   Were they observing me and wondering  about the tea?  By that time I'M WONDERING ABOUT THE TEA!!!! 

By this time my heart is racing!  But I go in the house and get a large flashlight.  Out I come to investigate!  Aren't I brave!!??  By this time, my adrenalin is really flowing, and I am almost shaking!

Well, I walk out a few feet, so the beam of the flashlight will reach that far.  and what to my poor old vision should appear???....................

my martin house!!!!! The moonlight was hitting it just right, and I couldn't see the "house" part or the pole from the steps.  Boy did I feel like an idiot!! Then I sat down and had a good laugh and  drank my tea.  But I guess I scared off the UFO, cause I have never seen it since! 

(This really is a true story, I wouldn't tell something like this on myself otherwise)
