I am 65 years old and have been widowed for 7 years (after 37 years of marriage.) I am now living with my son, daughter-in-law and my 2 grandkids in Sugar Land, TX for a little over a year now and I love it. I have another son who lives in Los Angeles. I am originally from New Orleans, LA and still have many relatives there. I moved from there in 1960 after graduating from high school to Los Angeles, CA, met my husband and we relocated to the Houston, TX area with my job in 1975 with our 2 sons. I retired in 1997. I am the 7th of 9 children, have a twin sister (fraternal) and all of my brothers and sisters (now 7) live in the Los Angeles area. I love visiting my families and friends as often as I can in Los Angeles and New Orleans. Family and friendship are very important to all of us and we're all very close. We all visit back and forth. My passion is writing song lyrics. I started writing songs 2 1/2 weeks before my loving husband passed away in Oct. 2000. I feel it was a blessing from God to help get me through the most sorrowful time of my life. I have written many personal songs in memory of him that I still listen to every night. God blessed me with a wonderful man who will always be in my heart. I love all kinds of music. I presently belong to a local songwriters group (www.houstonsongwriters.com) and I love listening to the songs created by the members. I am not a very good singer so I do not sing any of the songs that I have collaborated with others on. I do sing some under my "Songwritingranny" name which I'll start adding to this site with a video when I learn how to add it. I only have 1 video so far . It's all for fun. I hope to make a lot of friends on this AARP site.
