Great word isn't it?  Safe, secure, familiar, comforting, warm, loving, friendly...

Shortly after birth, our newest grandson had to be airlifted to an area NICU. Lots of loving people work there whose skilled hands and tender hearts gave us great comfort.

It was not home, however.  Being there was not normal, it was not what we had expected.  It was scary.

But with God's mercy and the power of prayer,  our newest grandson is home.  He met his sister for the first time.  He met his puppy, too.   He is sleeping in his own bed, wearing his own precious liitle clothes.

No strangers .  No very sick babies next door.  (God, please look over them.)  No alarms beeping.  No needles, tubes, blood drawing.

Great word, isn't it?

What a special day it is..

The 4th of July!  A day of family, friends and patriotism... a winning combination.

May God bless us and watch over us.  May He make our leaders strong.  May He also give them the wisdom to work together in one united voice, doing the best to keep our country strong.

God bless all those who are working to keep us safe, whether here or abroad.  Bless their families, too, for the sacrifices they have made.

God bless our future generations!

Today was not one of my most favorite days... and yet it was!

I drove in rush hour traffic for about an hour to get my yearly physical with my doc, but when we got there, we found out that the doc was not coming in.  His office had left a message on our machine about 5 minutes after we left!  The drive home took us about 90 minutes when it would normally take us 30.

This afternoon I went for my yearly pap test at my GYN's.  While I was waiting in the waiting room a very pregnant lady came in with her 2 year-old adorable daughter.  She was a typical toddler with all of her enthusiasms and rebelliousness.  She was very eloquent for her tiny age, but the thing that stood out about this tiny person was that she was missing her right leg.  Didn't stop her, what so ever!!   Walking on her stump and left knee, she was just as fast as any 2 year old running around the room!  I was sad to leave her company when they called me into the office.  I met my new Dr. and discussed past medical history and then she did a breast exam.

I couldn't believe it!  She found a lump!

My mom has just passed away about 9 weeks ago from a long bout with cancer, and, needless to say, I got a bit upset!  I questioned if I have enough strength left to deal with a serious illness after putting so much of myself into Mom's care.  I wanted to cry and go home and go to bed.

However, tonight I spoke with our daughter-in-law.  She is pregnant with our 3rd grandbaby and had also had a Dr.'s appointment today where they did an ultrasound.  Joy of joys.. the baby is just 12 weeks, but was moving and active during the ultrasound and our daughter-in-law is doing very well!  What a blessing.

As I sit here writing, I remember that little toddler fro the waiting room!.  That  tiny baby is now an inspiration to me!  Her go get 'em attitude is inspirational.  Chances are that nothing is wrong with me, but no matter what, I'm going to keep that little girl in my thoughts...her getting on with LIFE... her enthusiasm,,, yes, and even her rebelliousness.

Help me, God, no matter what, to live in the moment as my little hero does.
