Sharlet, did I ever tell you that this picture reminds me of the Ice Palace that was constructed in 1895 by the people of Leadville, Colorado? It was during a terrible economic downturn for the town which is two miles above sea level, and they thought a Crystal Carnival might draw enough tourists to make a difference. So they built a HUGE (450 ft. by 350 ft.) Ice Palace with about 8,000 tons of ice. I've seen the old pictures and that place looks incredible! There was a skating rink and a big ballroom and several other rooms all made from ice......most of it melted within about 3 mos. when they had an unusual warm spell. And it doesn't sound like it made much money for the town.....
