About Me

My nom de'plume says a bit about me. I am a Colorado native and myy DH and I live in Western Colorado with several furry and feathered friends. Between us we have three sons, two wonderful daughter-in-laws and one granddaughter. I currently work for a local community college. I had a scooter, a Yamaha C3, but recently traded that in for a Honda Shadow Spirit 750. I may be going through my second or third childhood. It remains to be see, but we are enjoying life.

Interests:
My kids and their families, my animals, dogs, cats, birds, camping, travel, riding my motorcycle, working on my computer.

This is turning into a VERY different Christmas. Yesterday my brother had endoscopic surgery for esophageal cancer. Pretty rough stuff. He has one of the best esophageal cancer gastric specialists but we are not sure of what will be the next steps.  It may turn into a numbers game. If the chance of mets are low, the side effects of chemo-radiation therapy.  This is a rare presentation so may not be any real protocol.

So this Christmas, more than ever, I am concentrating on what is important in my life: the reason that we celebrate Christmas and family.  When it boils down to it, there isn't much else that is important.

I never do this. I never leave exactly the same message to each one of my friends but I'm going to do it today. In the last month I have heard of two friends who have experienced a TIA (commonly known as a mini-stroke). One is a man in his 40s and the other a woman in her 50s. In honor of these dear people and all the loved ones my family has lost to heart disease I am sending this same message to each of my friends.

Jcofla has a profile here on AARP that you need to see. Please, take just a few minutes to read John's journal "Breakfast in Bed" and to watch three short videos about the American Heart Association's "Go Red For Women Day". Then take another minute to tell John thank you! You can find his profile here:

How are things on your end of the mountains? I would love to hear how your CHRISTmas went and if you are looking forward to this new year ahead. I hope it is filled with blessings, my dear friend.

How is your brother?
