In a few days, America will become what it has billed itself to be for well over 200 years. The American Dream will no longer be a concept but a reality. Barack Hussein Obama will be the 44th President of the United States of America...and the 1st African-American as leader of the most powerful Nation on the planet.
For 20 months, I worked tirelessly on behalf of Barack, with a "knowing" that he would be the "one".
This was my first venture being this involved in the political process. I gave it all I had and my efforts paid off. I believe in my heart that Barack has what it takes to turn this Country in the direction that is not only inclusive of every race and face but to strengthen the ties with every Nation on the planet...something that previous administrations have fallen short on.
It is my sincere hope that being a Man of Color, Barack will not only heal the war abroad but will also heal the most important war...the one at home. He is a symbol and role model for Black Men to break the cycle of institutionalized powerlessness as Men...Fathers & their place in the world.
He is a role model for Men of all races to become more present in their children lives. I think he has the ability to remove the invisible boundaries of "roles" within the family unit and allow the individuals involved to define "their" marriage on their own terms...not by some antiquated law that define marriage and perspective roles.
Having met Barack several times in my campaigning for him, there is a genuineness and approachability unlike anyone I have met. He is one with you when he is with you. He is funny, smart, intelligent and very playful. He is exceptionally charismatic. However, it is not something that is put on...it is something that comes out.
I am very proud of this Man and feel extremely blessed to have made my contribution and to see this day come to fruition.
There is so much I can say about this Man and what he means to me personally and the indelible mark I am sure he will make on this Country.
So, join me in the celebration of this remarkable Man...not only in his Presidency...but as a Black Man's ascension to a station of respectability and vision for all of mankind....
