About Me

I'm a retired lady who is happily married to my wonderful husband, Forrest. We have been married for a 7 years now, and share a wonderfully active life together. Between the two of us we have 4 kids, 14 grandchildren (one went to heaven this summer & we miss him terribly), and 3 great grandsons. Most of our kids live too far away for our liking...but such is life! Our daughter and her family live a few hours away from us during the summer months at the ranch, but don't see them often either. So, now we going to join friends who have ATVs; then we can go on ATV camping trips. We have always had older ATVs at our ranch, so we're used to riding them...and there is only one brain to control. So we recycled our entertainment fund and got 2 new Honda Rancher 420 ATVs, and remodeled an old flat bed trailer that just holds our ATVs and bicycles. We downsized from our 5th wheel to a camper to put on the truck, and now we're ready to go. Our first trip was last year to central Oregon camping with our friends. I even conquered the China Wall...but was scared all the way! I keep busy with my writing and following the publishing of my first book, "Father, Forgive My Father", in 2005 (read my blog about that) I am writing articles now for magazines, and articles to Christian magazines to promote my book. I also enjoy making crocheted afghans for my grandchildren, and have finished my 6th one. The past 2 years we've been blessed with 3 more adopted grandchildren and 3 GREAT grandsons, so I suppose I will be trying to make ones for them, too, if my fingers hold out long enough.

Interests:
I love outdoor activities like camping, swimming, hiking, atv riding & just taking a ride and looking at a beautiful sunset. My hobbies are blogging on my web sites, writing magazine articles, and making crocheted afghans for my grandkids. In the summers we love to work on our cedar home that we have built over the past 6 years and are still doing some of the finish work. This year we will be putting in grass lawns and shrubs and an outdoor above the ground pool to cool off in on hot days. We keep very busy in our retirement

I know, some of you may be getting tired of hearing me repeat myself, but this is a subject that is dear to my heart...NOT abuse, but in trying to get help for victims of abuse, whether it be sexual abuse or some other.  I continue to read about so many young people who continue to suffer abuse in a nation that continues to look the other way and deny that it is happening.  What is it going to take?

The scars of abuse "leave emotional bloodshed" on all of us by the guilt of not doing enough in our societies to help and make a difference.  It is also on all of us as a financial burden due to the numbers of humanity who have to be locked up. Our prisons today are FULL of perpetrators who were victims themselves...it has snowballed from generation to generation, and is a burden on all of society. We MUST stop this horrendous epidemic (and THAT is what it is...no matter what anyone says) so that our children and grandchildren don't continue to pay in future generations for our denial and complacency.

All child abuse should be reported and dealt with, and punished (not just with a slap on the hand and let out to abuse again...but to the full extent of the law). I live in the U.S. and there are a number of states who are mightily tightening their laws on child abuse. Claire Reeves (who wrote the promo for the back cover of my book) has been instrumental in getting these laws changed...one main state was California. Claire is the Founder/President of MASA (Mothers Against Sexual Abuse) and she works tirelessly in government to tighten these laws.

Also, when we traveled abroad a few years ago in the Caribbean, I did a little research on my own while we were on tours. I asked our guides in each city we stopped, "Do you have much child abuse here." In every instance they would answer with words to the affect "No, you touch the child, you do life in prison." It was no 3 strikes and you're out...ONE time and you do LIFE in prison. This is what needs to happen in every state of the US and in every country of the world.

Thanks again ShoutLife friends for all the efforts that YOU make where you live. And please, whoever reads this and knows of someone who needs healing from abuse, please refer them to my book, "Father, Forgive My Father". It is being called "the roadmap to recovery" all across the country, and praise God, it is healing people so that they can live victorious lives through the healing power of Jesus Christ. With current statistics what they are (1 in 4 girls and 1 in 5 boys abused by the age of 18) almost everyone knows someone who has been abused or, unfortunately, has been abused themselves. Those are the "published" statistics; who knows how high the numbers really are. So, put on your thinking caps, and open your eyes, and be more aware of your surroundings and those who may need your help.  The fact that the statistics are so staggering, most people know someone who is either being abused or was abused, or they were abused themselves.  Look around people, know the signs; then give help where you can.  You and that individual will BOTH be blessed, and you will have changed that person's life forever for the good.  As a victim myself, I would have given anything to have had someone approach me when I was a child, and give me the help that I so desperately needed.  Won't you be that person for someone?

Thanks so much for your Thanksgiving Blessing; I appreciate it. I, too, have not been on here as much as I'd like, so I understand being "busy". Life is that way...too busy. This week we were blessed by a visit from my Granddaughter and her son (our GREAT grandson) so have REALLY been busy entertaining them. It was delicious, and i hated to put them on the plane home to Alaska today. You, too, have a wonderful holiday.

I'm so, so sorry to read about your grandson. I pray that there has been some kind of resolution for you and your family. I can't imagine your family's pain...
