About Me

We love to take off. Could be a cruise or just trips in the States. We've been doing something every three months for just over 3 years. Have to do it while you're young enough to really enjoy it. We tend to take alot of pictures. When we get to the point when we can't travel we'll have pictures and movies to look back on. Maybe in twenty or thirty years. This doesn't count our weekend trips. Maybe when we both retire we'll be able to do more. I think I'm going to have a little more time on my hands. I've turned in my papers for retirement, last day should be the 28th of September. Hoping to have more time to moderate Cruising tips and be more of an active member in this community.

Interests:
Our biggest interests are our kids and grandkids. Try to see them all as often as possible. We truly do enjoy traveling and we've got hooked on cruising. We try to cruise 2 to 3 times a year, started that just over 2 years ago. We've found that we enjoy cruising on our own or with family and friends. The wife is completely hooked on balconies. I enjoy them too. Nothing like sitting out there first thing in the morning, drinking coffee and cruising into a new port.

My Journals (3)

Our families like to have a reunion once a year and we all decide on where to meet for a week. This trip was to Niagra Falls Canada. Had a few problems on the trip, the brother in law was in the hospital a couple of times. Once in Canada in once again in Rochester NY. Put a damper on some events, but still saw a lot. The Canadian side if the falls is the only way to view the US Falls and Horseshoe Falls. Unbeleivable how much water continuoisly runs over them. We did the Maid of the MIst boat tours and the sounds and sights are beautiful. We also did the behind the falls tour, don't try to talk while your the tunnels near the falls. We did find it was cheap to rent a house for the week, though the prices went up right after we booked. The dollar fluctuates constantly with the Canadian dollar.

Like I said the only side to truly get the most beautiful view is from Canada, but I would recommend just a day trip over to view the falls and do a few things. It's cheaper to stay, eat and be entertained on the US side. To spend a week on the Canadian side will not happen again. Found more things to do, (sightseeing, eating, entertainment and all around fun) cheaper and better on the US side.

I love your attitude about traveling. I retired four years ago and don't have much money to spend on traveling - unless I want to start using the money I've saved for my "later" years - which I just might start doing. I'm still in okay shape as long as I don't overdo it.

I've just found an online friend who also has fibromyalgia and who loves to cruise. I just might start doing it more often. I love it!

Like your ideas about why a "balcony" cabin is preferred. Our first cruise was the Western Caribbean. Never would have seen my first flying fish if we had an inside cabin!
Leaving 4/15/08 for the Mexican Riviera! (Our 3rd cruise)
