About Me

Peter Greenberg is the nation's preeminent expert on travel -- no other journalist brings his level of expertise and extensive experience to the travel process. And while other travel experts focus on the destination, Peter offers something different, something truly unique. His focus is on the journey, providing insider's tips and recommendations to an increasingly savvy and demanding traveler. And Peter's keen investigative journalist skills enable him to go beyond the mundane and everyday to reveal unique perspectives, timely travel information and valuable insights

Interests:
For as long as anyone can remember, travel guide books have always talked about -- in fact promoted -- the best places to go, ultimate destinations and the greatest travel experiences. But that's about to change. What about discussing the places you should NEVER go, the travel experiences you should avoid at all costs? Life is short. Travel budgets are getting tighter as the cost of travel keeps getting more expensive. That's why you need to read "DON'T GO THERE: the Travel Detective's Essential Guide to the Must-Miss Places of the World." Cross-referenced by pollution, crime, corruption, and ranging from banned airlines and overrated hotels to places that stink -- literally -- it's the one book you need to read before you ever take your next trip. And chances are you even have your own MUST-MISS list. AND NOW IT'S YOUR TURN! Is there anywhere (or any experience) you'd like to warn us not to go? For more information, and to submit your own ideas and stories of where NOT to go, check out www.dontgothere.org.

Peter your answer to the travel agent was incomplete. I would have thought you would have spent some time going over the advantage of fee based and non fee based agents and the disadvantage of self booking products you know nothing about. You are correct good travel agents are worth using unfortunately many are no longer in business because clients would rather experiment than pay. Remember the trip of a lifetime is worth every penny, and the disaster is also. You get what you pay for. Thanks CBP
