About Me

I'm Nan. My name is really Natalie but little children have never been able to say it so it came out "Nanny" and it stuck. Now there are so many Natalie's around that there isn't any problem any more. I am 85 years old, born in Eastern Oregon, lived most of my life in Portland. Married there and my husband worked for a very large company that transferred employees around the country. We were fortunate to have been able to move only once and it was to California. We love it here and although we planned to go back when we retired, it was too hard to make that adjustment. Now we have outlived all our relatives and friends both here and in Oregon so we are staying in our home forever.... we hope. I hope this AARP community gets going as I think it could be lots of fun.

Interests:
Interests?? Almost everything interests me except Rock Music and present-day movies. I like to sew, knit, crochet, anything in the way of crafts is interesting even though I don't do very much, and gardening. I do a lot of that almost year 'round. We have a pretty large vegetable garden. I think my greatest love... or obsession.. is my computer. Every day I turn it on for a few hours in the morning and again late at night. I correspond with several people in other time zones and we sometimes have trouble connecting. I'm having breakfast when some are getting lunch and we don't get to visit on the instant message as much as we would like. I also like to see the amazing things people do on "Instructibles.com" making things out of other things. That's about all I can think of to tell. I'm pretty much a stay-at-home these days. Our biggest event of the week is going to the grocery store.

Hello, your reply came out fine, I just came in from outside, doing a little weeding in my flower beds, and still removing leaves, and uncovering little surprizes along the way, lots of new prennials have surfaced!, I get so excited when I see them, if they are in a good place, I leave them, if not, I look for an empty spot that needs a little tweaking, Thanks for getting back to me,
Your friend, Jen

I've never used this "Reply" part of our message page. At first I couldn't find it. Hope I didn't make a mess of it and you never receive it. Yes, my garden is growing fast. Tomatoes even have one bloom already... Early Girls do live up to their name. Picking little Sugar Peas and green onions and fighting off Voles keeps us both pretty busy. Artichokes are on their last legs for the Spring but hopefully if cared for properly will produce a small crop in the Fall. Love the pictures of your very green landscape. Today is going to be hot and we are not used to 90° weather so will look longingly again at your green scene
