Thanks for the comment on the photo. I've had several on that one. To me it is a contrast in those who are vulnerable, yet each one is able to help the other in some way. Sommer learns a little about "Helping Nature" not interferring with it in it's due course. The fawn was so much more calm in her presence. Sommer has learned that no matter how beutiful Nature can be, it can be just as cruel. Lessons which will serve her well in growing up. I try to explain everything I can when we are on our field trips around the woods and stream. She more than likely knows more about the roles different animals have in the balance of things than most college students. It is a sad comment as all it takes is one person to teach and as many as are willing to listen instead of playing video games and such. Far too many people simply think, "What's it matter to me?". I wish she could go with me on my attempt to return to the Appalachian Trail in June. I plan to walk 7 to 10 days in June and again in Sept or Oct until I have all 2280 miles covered. I have tried to find a hiking partner, but even if I go it alone, I will. My youngest son and I started it in the spring of 03, then I had a bad fall in July 03 and by the time I was ready to restart in 04, Ken was killed in an auto wreck q couple weeks prior to our planned restart. I most likely have too bad a knee and my feet are in bad shape. But determination will win out on this one. I will make it or at least give it my best effort. I hunt and I fish but I also try to help in environmental concerns, ecpecially in regards to Land Trusts and preservation of our Heritage. Saving old buildings, Civil War Battlefields, and Native American Burial Sites. Belong to SCI, Rocky Mtn Elk, NRA, and The Tennessee Land Conservancy along with "Sons of Confederste Veterans", Sons of the Revolution, First Families of Tennessee, Local, State, and National Historical Societies. I do Genealogy Work which is addictive. Have a nice week, TOMMY

Land conservation, especially involving wetland protection has been an ongoing labor of love. I've become a human rights advocate for people w/ disablities, elderly and veterans. What part of the Appalachian Trail are you hiking? It runs through MA, too. In the best part of MA, still. Take care. Nan
