I had a negative experience with the Red Hat Club, also. I contacted 5 local groups and didn't get a response from any of them. Am not interested in starting my own group, so I now volunteer at my local senior center, doing blood pressure checks once a month

Hi...I would like to find out more about volunteering and using my time better. Can someone give some info on that. I was a red-hatter but my group turned out to be not what I expected. Looking forward to hearing from someone. Thanks, Jane

Good Morning Jane! Am glad to hear that you are interesting in doing some volunteering. I found my "Volunteer Home" at the Habitat for Humanity. In my case, I volunteer at the local ReStore-an outlet for new and used home building and maintenance materials, as a front counter Greeter and helping out with pricing, computer work, etc. Habitat for Humanity has many different venues that you might be interested in. Look in your local phone book to see if there is a chapter near you.

My first love is still my Red Hat group--now called the Chiloquin Chicks. We are an active group and been going for nearly 5 years now. If the group you found didn't meet your needs, PLEASE give another chapter or two a look. If the chapters in your area are like our community, there are groups that can be more fun oriented than others.

Let me know what you decide on volunteering as well as about your Red Hat experiences. I have so much fun wearing my red hats that I want everyone to do the same.

By the way, where do you live?

Hats & Volunteering Forever,
Sharon
