About Me

I started The Chiloquin Red Hatters, a chapter of The Red Hat Society, in 2004 with 11 members. Even though I am no longer their Queen Mum, I am still quite active. The Chapter now has nearly 50 members and has changed their name to the Chiloquin Chicks

Interests:
Love to do pencil portrait sketches as well as pastel chalk portraits. I am a volunteer at our local "Restore" for Habitat for Humanity and love every minute that I am there!

Isn't it amazing how a community can come together when a need arises?  I love our little town of Klamath Falls, Oregon and today is no exception.

The Klamath Basin Habitat for Humanity learned yesterday that a portion of the donated siding for the home being built by the organization was stolen.  Donations are hard to come by and this siding was donated by a CertainTeed siding company and volunteers had had to drive quite a distance to pick it up.  Because the flooring in the home was being put down, the siding was placed next to the home, outside.  I know that the siding was there unprotected, but not for someone to help themselves to.

Today, one of our local merchants, Parr Lumber, heard of our plight and have donated enough siding to make up for what was taken.  Thank you Parr Lumber!  I will do my part to make certain that I tell all I come in contact with what a great merchant you are.

Hope to have two local DJs on our roles as volunteers very soon.  They came forward on their own and volunteered.  KLADFM is our local country station and has been a pillar of the community for 4 generations.

Somedays I get very discouraged with not having as many shops to pick from as the bigger cities, but today, I'm delighted to live where I do!!!!!!!

I had a negative experience with the Red Hat Club, also. I contacted 5 local groups and didn't get a response from any of them. Am not interested in starting my own group, so I now volunteer at my local senior center, doing blood pressure checks once a month

Hi...I would like to find out more about volunteering and using my time better. Can someone give some info on that. I was a red-hatter but my group turned out to be not what I expected. Looking forward to hearing from someone. Thanks, Jane
