About Me

I live in Eagle River - a smalll community adjacent to Anchorage in the south central part of Alaska. I am 66 years old, until November when I turn 67. Right now, and for the next couple of years, my grandsons are living with me while they finish high school. My three kids are grown and live in the area. Two sons are school teachers and my daughter is a massage therapist. The boys have families and I have my daughter's twin sons now with me. I retired from association management in 2002 and before that did a short stint as a special education teacher in Anchorage. I've been here continuously since 1974. My first trip was during college - came just after the 1964 earthquake. Married twice - first ended in divorce many years ago and my second husband passed away suddenly in 2000.

Interests:
I enjoy anything outdoors - have a motor home and snow machines and enjoy short jaunts with the kids, grandkids and the dogs. Fishing is high on the list during fishing season and skating during the winter. I'd love to go on an extended snow machine trip or maybe try winter camping. I used to hunt with my first husband, but haven't in years and years. It's a different hunting climate now in Alaska. I am a member of the Eagle River Area Rotary Club and enjoy the comradarie, networking with other adults and participating in community service projects. I traveled to India a couple of years ago helping to eradicate Polio. In 2011, the twins and I are going to Mexico with Project Amigo which is a literacy project.- Indoors, I enjoy reading, cooking and communicating via computer. What a great invention - huh? I dearly love traveling and will get back to that activity as soon as possible. There are so many exciting places to visit in this country and I am hoping to visit Antarctica before to long. I do like to offset the cold with a warmer climate and would love to consider being a snowbird. I own a beautiful log home surrounded by the tall mountains of Eagle River Valley and just being outside is energizing. Sitting on the deck in the hot tub with the snow capped mountains surrounding....ah yes. God's country for sure. My second husband was a pilot and we did travel to western Alaska which is still viable wilderness.
