Springtime in North Texas is Tornado time. We got off to a good start yesterday (Tuesday) Three spotted but none made it to the ground. I have a scanner and listen to theweather spotters. They give out info about 5 minutes before the TV.
On April 10, 1979 we had what is know as Terrible Tuesday, a F4 tornado about a mile wide came through and took out my house and quite a few others.
They say don’t get in your car and run, but I did and got away, but a lot of people were hurt or killed in their cars.
I feel so sorry when they show a town hit on TV especially the other day they showed a small town where everything was gone. I don’t know what those poor people do if they don’t
have some friends or relatives in the area.
I had lived here all my life so I knew a lot of people and part of the town was ok.
My uncle came by the next morning and said, "My rent house is vacant if you want to move in, so my wife, 2 small kids, married daughter, her husband and my grandbaby moved in, then the next day we had to stay the night with my dad because of flood danger, when we came back the next morning we could see where the water had got on the Porch but didn’t get inside.
Any one else have any Tornado stories, I will try to put up a few pictures.
May have some spelling errors can’t find a spellchecker on this thing.
