Yes, you're right! Elaine had a window that gave her beautiful blooms...I'd seen them when I visited her...yet my African Violets didn't like it there. I think they may have caught something while they were there...maybe from her other plants.
The window sill over my kitchen sink was just perfect for them before the deck was enclosed. Now the only other windows on that side of the house are upstairs in the bedrooms but of course, there is not the humidity that is right over a sink! I'm not sure how to nurture them up there!

I remember seeing orchids up in the trees in Hawaii...so beautiful! Ohhhh...to go outside and pick avacados and mangos...they must taste so much better picked ripe from the trees! You're in heaven!!!

Hi, Lodi...

Nice to see you here! I love orchids...I have three right now and they bloom every once in awhile, I think in desperation for my inconsistent care. Yours is beautiful! I also love, love African violets! I used to have a windowsill full of blooms...then my Sis-in-Law took care of them in her home when I was away, and they all died. I tried a couple of times again, but to no avail...we had enclosed our deck, and I think they just didn't like that. There is much less light there now! I really miss them!

I think it amazing how sensitive plants are to a change in environment and care! They are as alive as any animal or human, but in their own way :)

I have african violets of many hues that look like your orchid only fuller with many blooms. In Mexico I have orchids growing wild on my avacado and mango trees.
