About Me

I'm happily single, traveled extensively, and am very active socially, for growing older doesn't mean being old! I'm a Member of two Toastmaster Clubs, enjoy Ballroom Dancing and a good game of Scrabble. However, if given the choice of a good dancer and good conversationalist, I would rather be in the company of a good conversationalist. Fortunately I have both in my life, and good friendships are highly valued, as is Family! In terms of FamilyI have one Brother, three Daughters and four Grandchildren who I love dearly!

Interests:
One of my biggest joys is my participation within the AARP Community, and my communication with many of our very supportive Members. Since I have varied interests, it was not difficult to develop 14 Groups within the Community. I also volunteered my time for 5 years at our local VA Medical Center, for I enjoyed being there for our Veterans, as they were there for us and our Country! There are many different volunteer positions available! If you have a VA Hospital, near your community, please consider this type of Volunteer Work, for your help is really needed! Other than that, I enjoy travel, and have had the privilege of traveling extensively!

My Journals (2)

Like so many other immigrants, my Grandparents emigrated to this Country in the Mid 1860’s.  At that time, the immigrants were under the impression that the streets of New York were paved with Gold.   They were soon to learn, this wasn’t the case, and that getting ahead was NOT an easy road to follow..  It was only  through diligence, hard work, and ingenuity that  these immigrants became successful

My Grandmother on my Father’s side came from Germany, and my Grandfather came from Lithuania which later became part of Poland.  He  and his family came to this country to avoid conscription into the Russian Army, for that meant a lifetime of duty.  Then too, because he was Jewish,  more than likely he would have been sent to the front-lines,

My Grandfather started as a Peddler, and then supplied other peddlers with Merchandise, which they manufactured in their own home,   He saved his money and later went into Real Estate, accumulating his own properties.

Now, most European Immigrants brought their Children into the business, and my family was no different. My Grandfather brought his oldest Son, into the business, and my Uncle E.A, multiplied my Grandfathers holdings, becoming extremely wealthy.

Later my Uncle brought  my Father into the business to manage his properties!   My Father, did very well for my Uncle,  but not so well for himself, mainly because he was in love with the Arts, but that is another part of my story!  Shelby

Hi Littlemite,

Glad to be a part of your family. Mygrandparents were also from
Germany and arrived in this country around 1930. My other
grandparents also came from Germany probably around 1880.
I was involved in real estate for almost 30 years. I was the one
that closed and underwrote one of the largest sale transactions
in California, the sale of Pebble Beach Land Company which included
the Lodge, golf courses and other peices of property

This one's a winner, and I love the little girl. She should know that I'm doing fine. I visited my Daughters and Grandchildren in South Florida this last weekend, and my youngest and her Husband flew in from Las Vegas. It was a memorable time, and I'll be posting photos by the end of the week! Shelby
