When Autumn Comes
When autumn comes to call,
I will rejoice in the richness of color
Wearing my peacock-blue paisley suit
Dazzling with jet and teal beads on the collar
Threading down the front like a waterfall.
When I wear it with a black linen sweater
It says mysterious things
As the swirling pattern changes and darkens
Foretelling what’s soon to come.
When I wear it with a silk-dyed teal shirt
It becomes bright, vibrant
And joyously alive again
In the hush before winter begins.
