Our middle daughter, Alison, is getting married in our backyard on July 25th. It is such an exciting time for all of us. It is the first wedding of our three daughters and it's all new to us. She has done most of the planning, now we have to get the yard ready. With the all the rain we've been having, that isn't an easy task. Time is flying by.
It's such an emotional time for me too. I was very close to my mother-in-law and she passed away several years ago from cancer. She would have been such an emotional support for me at this time. I miss her very much. She would have been so happy for her granddaughter also. She only had boys, so the 3 girls were very special to her.
It seems like just yesterday that we brought our daughter home from the hospital. She was such a calm baby. She did have a little colic for a couple of months, but after that she was easy. The oldest was almost 4 and was a big help. Another baby came along when Alison was 20 months and I've always felt sorry for Alison. She seemed to get lost in the hubbub of taking care of 3 children. A lot of Alison's things had to be given to the new baby. The only thing she seemed to mind giving up was her crib. She loved her crib and cried and cried when we had to give it to the new baby. She finally relented when she got her big bed in with her older sister. Alison has always been keeping up with her older sister. The teachers told me they barely had to teach her to read because she wanted to read like her 'big' sister!
So, now Alison you are about to start your own life with a new husband and hopefully a family of your own. You'll both be good at it, so here's hoping that your dreams all come true. I hope you have many fine memories to look back on when you are my age!
