About Me

Hello everyone, I am retired, married and have 4 children , 6 grandchildren , 3 great grand children and 2 dogs and a cat. My husband and I love to travel and we both enjoy a good book .I like to cook and try new recipes. Love going to new areas of the country and meeting new people. I like to quilt and work in the yard. I miss gardening alot. The area of Georgia we are in just isn't conducive to growing much of anything. Yes, soil has been amended. I love nature and watching birds and other animals .We have a home in Michigan and have a racoon that visits every evening , and eats the corn put out for the deer. His name is Ike. The deer come and go and are so gorgeous. I love to walk to the river and watch them drink or swim across. Besides that , I stay busy with my hobbies , making charity quilts and taking care of a grand child .I used to volunteer at a community food bank and plan on going back to do that

My Journals (1)

We just returned from our home up north. I packed sewing machines, fabric, books, UFO's etc. We were gone two weeks and no Ufo's finished but some close. Of course i had to take off in a new direction and srtart another project! I did finish several 12" blocks for a Sampler quilt I always wanted to make. Several years ago I found a little fabric store in a small town near us. It has the old creaky wooden floors and tin ceilings . All original . Several bolts of fabric, craft supplies etc. My 9 yr. old g daughter couldn't understand why anyone would think the creaking was so cool like Grandma does. Then we went to an old Ben Franklin store with the same creaking floors and candy sold from glass containers ! She thought taht was pretty "sweet." Memories are as the song said  are made of this .

Happy quilting . Make some memories.

Hi Karen,

I know that you're a member of my "Crochet: Legal Hookers" group, and I don't recall seeing you post any messages there. I just wanted to share a QUILTERS website with you as I notice that you do some lovely quilting. It is called the PineTreeQuiltGuild.com of which my mother is a founding member. Look at their annual quilt show winners as that might give you some ideas for future projects. Your quality is superb!

I want to thank you for recommending The Linnett Bird. I got it thru the library but so far only Mom has read it. She said she would talk to me about it today but in a nutshell she couldnt put it down. I am going to be looking for your recommendations :-). See you in the Book Talk group

Karen, are the flowers appliqued on your quilt? It is very pretty. So are the others.
