Ramble--Disappointed with site

I am trying my darndest to understand this site.  I have written some lengthy journal entries only to lose them while proofreading.  I don’t know where they go to, but I never see them again.  As a result, I have been trying different ways to keep from losing my "stuff."

Nowadays, I will publish then write I am hoping this will help me not to lose my work. I have even tried to use ’word’ then cut and paste, but the site does not take to it too kindly.

I have noticed when I save a piece as a draft then try to publish it at a later date it disappears to some unknown place in space.  Consequently, I don’t want to lose any more of my drafts, so I no longer use the draft because I know I can not return to it, so I set up and publish then write.  I hope this technique works.  It doesn’t feel too good because I feel compelled to complete an entry in one sitting.

I have noticed that at times the journal entries are  more than 6 days behind.  I don’t know when they will catch up because I know I have friends who have posted journal entries and not see them for what seems like weeks.

It is a little discouraging to see work lost and not to be able to see friends works in a timely manner.  Might I add that I appreciate this site and the opportunity to write and feel a part of a group of people who I can not only identify with, but appreciate and enjoy.

I have no intentions of going away, but I would like to know how to save my work and how to keep it safe.

Hi Karean,
I have experienced the same problem. I have put a tag on my journals to see where they went and found that they get posted among the much earlier posts. My Glacier National Park journal was posted on Aug. 22, but it got placed with the Aug. 3 journals. Needless to say, no one is going to go back and check several weeks prior, thinking they missed reading a journal. The only people that have read it are my "friends" that happened on my site.

I just copied it today and reposted it again and thankfully it finally showed up today on today's date.

In the future I will delete my journal if it gets posted to never-never land again.
Have a Wonderful Labor Day Weekend!

Agreed, sometimes there are technical difficulties here...I actually have a note that keeps popping up that says my profile will not be complete until I write in my journal...which I have and the site has not seemed to update that data...but everyone starts somewhere and growing pains are always the norm. Overall, I keep meeting nice peeps like you so that more than compensates

Oh and one more thing to add to my first comment...don't use any of the fancy fonts while you are working on your piece in Word. Just something simple like Times New Roman which will transfer well to the webpage. Then if you want to change the font at that point just highlight the whole page and change the font/style/size to whatever suits you

I think they are still working some of the bugs out of their BETA site so it does get frustrating for us at times but I'm hoping they'll get things worked out soon. As far as the disappearing journal goes...I write and save everying on Word then cut and paste on a new journal page then hit PUBLISH and it seems to come out fine. When I first start to paste onto the journal page it asks twice if I'm sure I want to allow the webpage to access my clipboard. I answer yes TWICE and then it asks if I want it to "clean up" the page since it was created in Word. I CANCEL that and it pastes up just fine. I found that if you agree to let it clean up the Word page it actually posts it two times!? Go figure...

Anyway, give it a try and if anything happens at least you have your work already saved on Word. You can be spontaneous with your words and know that they won't just disappear. We don't want to miss any of those words so good luck!
