I am not sure you can talk to them. I haven't experienced this with my mother but have read some on it. I got a couple of books. One called Into the Mist. Had an example of this. The person hid things and had deep mistrust. One of the biggest helps was the redirecting suggestion. If you can't fight it redirect the persons thoughts. It helps with other things, don't know about this though.
