About Me

Hello, all: I live on the far south side of Chicago near Calumet Park with my husband. I have two wonderful daughters. We have two dogs and a cat. My mother lives in Riverdale, Illinois and my father is deceased. I have four siblings, a sister and two brothers (one sister deceased). I am the second to oldest child, oldest girl. My parents really instilled the importance of family in us growing up. We did everything together, and to this day, we try to spend as much time as we can together. Last year we were able to vacation together in Indiana Beach. What a fun time!! If there is no reason to celebrate, we make up something. I will soon be celebrating 25 years with my current employer, Mayer Brown LLP. I am most grateful to Mayer Brown for giving me a chance back in l983, and continuing to afford me opportunities. Their support and encouragement throughout this process has meant a lot to me. I have been very fortunate to work with such good people at such a prestigious firm. I am honored at having the opportunity to share this venture with everyone. This is by far the most exciting adventure I have encountered in my lifetime thus far. I am sure I will be talking about this experience for years to come and am most grateful that you will be joining me every step of the way.

Interests:
I like to walk and go to a nearby Curves (health club) three times a week. During the warmer months, I walk around the track at a neighborhood high school. I spend most of my spare time talking with family since I don't have much time during the week. The thing I enjoy most is backyard bar-be-ques and park outings. I love the outdoors. Can hardly wait til summer.

AARP Chicago Volunteer Appreciation Event

On October l6th, I attended the AARP Illinois Chicago Volunteer Appreciation Event.  This event was to honor Chicagoans who had made major contributions by volunteering with the AARP this year.  I am rather impressed with how the AARP supports and recognizes all who support their organization, whether it be staff or volunteers.  I took this opportunity to also meet some distinguished attendees, and have set up some meetings for the future.  One individual in particular is now CEO of a center in the Chicagoland area.  I find that these events are not only beneficial in that you get a chance to meet people from all walks of life, but it is a great way to network.  I am grateful to Heather and Carmenza for their continued support.

Sometime during the next few weeks, I will be meeting with the AARP staff to strategize more about the plan and moving forward.   Having hit the 50+ status and being employed at one job for 25+ years, I kind of had the mindset , that "this is it, what else is there to do?"  This win has me going in directions I never thought I would go in.   My best advice is to stay focused, open minded and never stop believing in yourself.  Stay up on techology and network, network, network.  If you can dream, believe it and see it,  then go for it.!!!!!!.......More to come......
