About Me

I recently returned to work, part time as a Receptionist at my town hall. Previously I was a Administrative Assistant for almost 20 years. I am also a member of IAAP (International Asso. of Administrative Assistants) and the Co-Chairperson of our Chapter's Membership Committee. I am a local Artist and primarily create pencil sketches of various subjects and use watercolor pencils and paints; belong to our local Art Club. With my interest in the town and history in general I will soon join the local Historical Society.

OK, I have decided to go back to "almost" the beginning in my quest for a better photo of me.  So I have chosen one, before I gained too much weight and prior to using make-up. My hair style hasn’t really changed in years and is about as light in color as now, though more ’golden’. The photo is also prior to having 5 sisters which was really nice at the time....no sibling rivalry to worry about; no sisters ganging up on me to hold me down and tickle me; no baby sitting the girls; plenty of treats for me alone and the attention...ahh the attention was wonderful.  All kidding aside, I would not want to go that far back in time, for I truly love my sisters.  I do miss though, the moments with my Mom and Dad that were all mine.  Now that they are both gone to rest I sometimes wish we could have had them just a little longer.  My Mom taught us to play softball, cook, clean and clean and clean, bake, math homework...multiplication, read...yes, Mom was an avid reader herself.  She read everything and anything.  I believe it is because of her that I enjoy reading.  Dad....my dad the crooner...yes, Dad used to sing to me often.  He and Mom met at a club many years past.....He was the lead singer with a quintet.  I have always called him, "my dad the crooner".  It is because of my dad that I know songs like, "Let Me Call You Sweetheart", and a lot of those oldies of the 30’s and 40’s.  Both encouraged us to try and develop an interest in which we might excel....I chose Drawing and Painting and Writing....neither of which will bring in anough money readily so that I will not starve; however I still work at it and it is truly relaxing, and if in the process I do ever make enough to live on, it will be a plus.....I try to capture all of the little tidbits of information about our family’s past and add it to a 3-ring notebook so that my own children and all who come after will realize the people who came before them.  History is so very important on many levels and especially the history of families.  Some people do not support this, but I know that there is a need for people to hang on to the past history in order to make the future even better.  After all, without the past, we would not exist.  So you will notice that on my Profile I have gotten somewhat younger overnight.  I hope it will be a nice change to view.......Jeanette58

Oh my, I probably should take pics of the new Walgreens and Hampton Inn going up! We have 3 Rite Aid and almost 2 Walgreen drug stores in town....only minutes from each other. Then there are pharmacies in 2 supermarkets (Wegmans) and Walmart. Well, I can honestly say that we have drug stores and gas stations! On almost every corner. Our mall has been sold once more and hopefully work will begin soon to bring it into operating condition again. Plans are to bring in shops, restaurants and apartments/condos. Have 2 Tim Hortons and one Starbucks plus a couple strip malls and other things like fast food and other businesses. The plan is to clean up the main road that runs through our town and into a few others (Ridge Road). Also to have the businesses help with the taxes....I'm all for that! Our leaves here are just beginning to turn and when the trees in the park do turn it will be amazing to see the colors. Can hardly wait! I must get out and take some pictures soon. Have not taken many lately.
