TO BE OR NOT TO BE. THAT IS THE QUESTION. SHAKESPEARE

My Journals (13)

As most of you know my mother-in-law passed away in June. She left her small estate to her sons, my husband and his brother.  I have just realized the meaning of the phrase "Easy come easy go". The estate was divided between the two of them. Then we had to pay what ever taxes and monies due. Then the stock market (did I mention it was all invested) tanked and tanked and tanked some more.

I had been told a long time ago that I would come into some money when I was an older person. And I got to thinking about that when it dawned on me that I was told I would come into it but not how long I would have it. I started laughing. What else could I do. The prediction came true if only for a short amount of time.

So if you are ever told you will come into some money. Remember this, it can be any amount from 1 cent to what ever you dream of. But also remember, no guarantee for how long you will be able to keep it.

Finally we have a winner for the Presidency.

No matter how you feel about it, I think we should do as Mc Cain said. Show the world just what Americans are all about and stand behind our choice, work with him  and together maybe, just maybe we can stop being the laughing stock of the world and resume our place as one of the world leaders.

It all depends on us. So stop licking your wounds and get on with life.

.     Have any of you decided who you are going to vote for?   I haven't and I don't think I will really know until Election day.

There are a few who have already decided and for what I consider a very silly and juvenile reason. Now I was for Hillary Clinton and yes I was upset when she didn't get the nomination, but I got over it.  Apparently there are those who have not gotten over it and are going to punish her Party by voting for the other Party because they have a female running mate. WOW such clear and concise thinking.

I and I'm sure many, many others are trying to decide who will be the best choice to be our President and lead us through this mess we are in now. In the mean time Hillary is minding her own business, keeping a low profile and doing her job in Washington.

I would like very much to hear what she has to say about all this.

I am writing this about a man I hardly know. He is a neighbor.  I have waved to him, said barely 10 words to him and admired him for his love and devotion to his wife who had Alzheimers disease. This I know because my other neighbor had told me.

He took care of his wife, the house and anything else that had to be done. He tended his garden and shared the crops with others.

Lately I have seen him on a daily round trip walk, past my house to the Cemetery near us.  I realized that his wife had passed away and he was visiting her.  He must miss her very much. I wonder if he talks to her as he sits by her grave. Does she like the spot he picked out? Has she seen all those that went before her and how are they? Does she remember the day that they met? The happy and sad moments they shared?

I worry about him because no matter how hot it is he still visits her. How does that go? Love eternal, love devine, I will always be thine.

Summer time and the livin is easy.  It seems like we haven't had a Spring in ages. I'm not sure I remember what spring was like.

The flowering bulbs start to come up and then we have snow and below freezing temperatures and the flowers die. It gets warm again and the other bulbs start to come up and if we are lucky the weather co-operates.

We start to think about summer coming and all of a sudden we are in a heat wave of 90 degrees plus and June just barely got here. Can you imagine what July & August will be like.

People will go on their vacations, children will get bored and say there is nothing to do and  you cut the grass and as soon as you stow the lawn mower, the grass will have already grown to it's former height.

Even though it's vacation season, it is also the time for family reunions, summer camp, picnics and just enjoying the outdoors and the yard you worked on so hard.

So everyone have a great summer and enjoy your home because at the price of gas these days it may be the vacation spot of the year for you.

Last night my mother-in-law passed away.  We had been warned that the time was near.  I feel sad for our loss. Especially my husband who was close to her.  But there is also a feeling of relief.  She was blind from macular, deaf in one ear and her body had closed in around her like a cage. She could not move even her hands were locked.  She had spent the last year saying she wanted to die and we understood only too well. She was in a lot of pain.

She was once a very vibrant woman. She and her husband raised 2 sons & sent them out into the world to make their fortune. Meanwhile she and her husband traveled to Europe and many other places. He passed away about 15 yrs ago and she remarked in one of our conversations that she was very angry with him for leaving her. My remark was that I didn’t think he was too happy about it either.

In the past 5 years I have watched her fight to hang on to her independence only to lose it and end up a prisoner of her own body.  I will miss her and I will remember her as she was. A darm good fighter and a worthy foe.
