My Journals (2)

So I am thinking about changing jobs for more money. I go on an interview at a child welfare agency which shall remain unknown. The first interview was on June 13, 2008. I met with a very nice man at their Harlem New York location. He told me he liked me and would pass my resume on to the Human Resources department who in turn will pass it on to the director of Foster Care. I filled out a job application and gave all of the necessary information in detail.

Then on June 23 rd I get a call from the director who left me a message asking if I was still interested in the position and if so to give her a call. I call her back the same day and we arrange for a second interview for the next day. She asked me to meet her in their Bronx, New York office for the second interview. The interview went very well and then she asked me my office location preference. I told her the Bronx because this is were I live and the bus is two blocks from my house and will drop me off in front of the agency. She then gives me the grand tour of the facility. I saw the Preventive Unit, the Home Finding Unit and finally the Foster Care Unit and she said, "this is were you will be sitting". The supervisor is out today otherwise I would introduce you.

I get a call from a woman who till this day I dont know who she is all I know is that she works for the agency. The call came on June 26, 2008. She calimed she was having problems reaching my recommendations despite the fact I spoke to all the same week. One she recorded the name number down wrong and so she reached a non-working number. The other she claimed was playing phone tag and the other she recorded the information but failed to try to contact the person.`Finally after I threatened to call the director she gets through. One person said she lied. The other said she was out of town so phone tag wasnt an option and the other she didnt call. I get a call and I am given a phone offer and except. I am called down only to fill out more papers and take a physical and drug test on that day. I am given the travel info. Guess what ?wrong info. The doctor is on the West side at 49th not the east side. Then I am told I must pay over$100.00. Started to walk out and then I was told to forget the fee they will do what they can. What?

I get a voice message call the next day asking me to call back and tell them if I could start on Monday August 4, 2008 at their Harlem office not the Bronx office. Is anyone concerned at this point or is it just me. Mind you I never got a written confirmation letter which tells you your start date, salary, vacation days , sick days and when your probationary period is over. Now maybe they plan to give it to me on my start date but it is customary to give it before hand because its like an understanding/contract. If you swing like this now what on earth could I expect when I start working for them. I refuse to say the name because one of my AARP peps may work for these fools already.

Would you work for these people? You know they need to stop!

Does anyone know where I could get a good house keeper in the Bronx. I have gone to several websites and most of them block the information you need to contact the person seeking employment. There were a few companies that require you to call them to request services and then they would hook you up with someone. These were very expensive, required you to give your credit card information over the phone for soemone you have never seen would not have the chance to interview prior to them coming in your home. I thought this was ridiculos!

I called Mary Maids and spoke to a nasty indivdual by the name of Mary no doubt and she got an attitude when I asked,"Dont I get to meet this person before they come into my home?" She said its a service. You tell us what you wnat done and how many hours you need which in my case was two hours a week which by the way would cost me a whopping $83.45. This included tax. Mary Maids is not so Mary so beware if you contact this company.

Not only do they over charge but they do it with an attitude. I would like to meet the person first. Oh they surpose to have done a back ground check which includes crimminal activity which is fine. You never get to see or discuss this but my whole issue is this, if you going to allow someone in your home around your family for a few or even several hours w week wouldnt you like ti know something about them and their personality. You dont even get a profile they just send them out to you. I hope all of the agencies dont work this way. I could advertise for my own but I would have to pay someone for the back ground check. There are companies that do this for what price its unknown.

Beware of whom you let your home!
