My name is Gigi, and I live in Central Florida. I can't believe I'm on this site, but I guess it's time!
Interests:
The main thing that drives my life right now are my kids. I had kids late, so at 52, I'm single mom to Hannah (17) and Jeb (14). My kids and I are very close, and we're a team in nearly everything. Hannah is just beginning to spread her wings -she's my common-sense child. Jeb has Tourette Syndrome and lags behind a bit in social and education. I've homeschooled them both for 4 years and I wouldn't have it any other way. I don't do it for religious reasons, I do it for political and cultural reasons! I wouldn't subject my children on today's public school system if our lives depended on it! We call it the "Government School System" - I refuse to allow the government to tell me what my kids will learn... We're also very active in Scouting - Jeb has been in the Boy Scouts since 1st grade and is a Star Scout. He got bored so we started our own Venturing Crew (co-ed) and his sister is now involved. Just moved to Orlando and new to the AARP social networking community so thought I'd say hello. I love it here in Orlando. . .a far cry from the prairie in NE but no snow and ice and being in the pool everyday is a real treat.
(I lived in Kalamazoo for a while--nearly froze in July! Also lived in Topeka--the law enforcement period of my life.)
