Hi,

I just joined this group and would like to briefly introduce myself. I am a Grand Father in a multi-generational family. It has been very rewarding living with my youngest daughter and her 3 lovely children. No we are not the Brady Bunch. I would say more like the Roseanne family. It hasn't been easy, but each day, through sharing our experiences, we grow closer together.

Besides being an avid gardener with a small home nursery, I am a computer nut. I have assisted many with their websites. One group that I have donated my volunteer time is http://nfpcar.org and one of the many informative sections I am developing is on Grand Parents Rights.

I started this page with information from AARP on the figures of Grand Parents Raising children. However, I would like to include the Legislation and many comments from those who are raising grand children. I am a strong believer, that the Government can not solve our problems, but instead, we, as family must make a difference in these economic times. So check out this page http://nfpcar.org/Grand/ and please send me your comments and/or thoughts to build this page.

Here is what our group is all about as expressed in our Affliation Vision:

“We are joining forces with all persons affected by Parens Patriae to include parents, extended family, foster parents and father's and mother's rights groups. While this is a difficult endeavor due to various divisions, the focus will be on challenging the system with the unified goals and commonalities that each is suffering under in family courts and through CPS.”

May you find strength in your Higher Power,

GranPa Chuck

Hello GranPaChuck
Thank you for responding. I am still getting acquainted with this site. How long have you been part of this group? Do you find it to be helpful?

As far as any group on this site it has been very shortly. However, I have found the AARP site very interesting. I have used and participated in the information provided by AARP.

As I am sure you are well aware over the many years there has been a degradation in the family structure and at the same time we, as a Nation have said, let the government make our family decisions. Known as parens patriae (n) is Latin for "father of the people".

Since I am an activist for Families and a computer geek and based on my personal experiences, I am the webmaster for http://nfpcar.org. This is an organization which stands for National Foster Parents Coalition for Allegation Reform. Over 10 years ago we were falsely accused of Child Abuse against a Foster Child.

Eventhough this group started out with just Foster and Adoptive Parents, we were soon recognized as a Group that could help all families. Add the fact that I am now a Grand Father living in a multi-generational home, I thought it would be a natural process to organize a set of pages for Grand Parents as well as become more active on this site.

So much for my rambling. But I leave you with the link to the webpage that I am starting for Grand Parents. The initial information are links taken from this site on the increase of grand parents raising children.
Link: http://nfpcar.org/Grand/ .

So my hope is that I can find many more who want to share their life experiences on this site to help others. Plus I want to develop the information on the nfpcar.org site to relay this information to ALL Families. The answers are within the Families and not the Government.

May You find Strength in Your Higher Power, GranPa Chuck
