About Me

Born during a New Jersey blizzard, I have lived in Colorado since my parents moved the family here when I was a year old. Colorado is in my soul; I can't imagine living anywhere else. Somewhat of a loner and a bit shy, I have always been more comfortable in the company of animals, especially dogs.

Interests:
Gardening, traipsing around the Colorado Rockies, surfing the Internet. Love to travel, mostly around the western U.S. but also have been to England, Scotland, France, Mexico, several trips to Canada, a fine autumn in New England, and a soggy but fun week in and around DC.

Never fear shadows. They simply mean there's a light shining somewhere nearby.

I hope for your sake that the winter won't linger. I can certainly understand how that sad memory of a bitter cold day could set the tone for the whole season.

I'm not really done with winter yet but I admit that the brown starts to get to me after awhile. I figure if we have to have the cold we could at least get some snow to cover all the sleeping vegetation and give us a different color scheme for awhile. I do know that I have to get out in the sunshine once in awhile or my spirits start to sink. Haven't hit that part yet, maybe I won't this year.

"From the Grave" is just CHOCK full of those great Colorado history stories. I am just astounded at how much research this lady had to do to write the book! I carry my copy in the truck or move it to the car when I know I'll be visiting some of our pioneer cemeteries. And then on those days when Jim just can't stay out of Home Depot I can sit out in the parking lot and get lost in the stories. I distinctly remember a couple of Home Depot stops in CA whiling away a half hour in Colorado history and wishing I was home.

I hope you are already having a good Monday, Deb. My shoveler just peeked in to say goodbye and reported the sky has opened up again and is dropping big fat juicy flakes....ahhhh, snow!

Did you have a nice weekend? Ours vanished even though Jim only worked a couple days last week. I've been popping in here between family activities and I just came across an e-mail from another genealogy/family history nut cousin of mine. She mentioned a book about Riverside Cemetery so I requested it from the library but she also mentioned this website so I went to have a look. Just thought you might enjoy some of the stories on this specific page. The Circus Fire headstone is in a cemetery in Greeley. Anyway, I really haven't had time to explore the whole website but thought you might get a kick out of this page:

Talk to you again soon, my friend. Hope it's been an enjoyable weekend!

Oh! And I forgot to tell you that one of the blogs on that page mentions "From the Grave" by Linda Wommack. Do you have that book? I LOVE my dog-eared old worn out copy. Love it, LOVE IT!!
