I am trusting that each and everyone of you had a great Christmas this year. It was an unexpected one for me this year, as I ended up in bed battling the flu. I tried to make the best of it, but amids the aches, pain, and many discomforts, I ended up sleeping most of the day. My family did the best they could to encourage me, but as usual, in a flash Christmas day was gone.
Nevertheless, in spite of all this, I still was able to be grateful to God, as I meditated on the true meaning of Christmas. I am still very appreciative of the Gift of God sent down to earth, on that first Christmas oh so long ago. A wise and loving God, put into play His wonderful plan to reconcile sinful man to himself, thus fulfilling His own righteous demands for the punishment of sin. God came down from heaven in the form of a man, as a baby, born of a virgin.
This is what Christmas is for me. While the gifts, and fellowship with family and friends is also important to me, it all means nothing without the best gift of all: God being with us, living in our hearts by way of salvation; "Emmanuel, God with us." Yes, Christ remains and always will be the Christ in Christmas to all who have been redeemed.
Therefore, in spite of the flu, I still am enjoying a wonderful Christmas Holiday, and may God continue to bless you though out the coming year.
