California Fires/Update

We have been blessed.  1,450 fires were contained by July 9, 2008, (Wednesday).  However, more than 320 are still actively burning.  Six firefighters have been treated for heat exhaustion.  In Big Sur,27 homes & 31 structures were destroyed as residents returned to their homes.

Would you believe that 40 lightning-sparked fires charred 49,000 acres in the past two weeks?  These are examples.  There are many more areas and many more paths of destruction left behind.

The smell of fire and smoke is strong in the air, air unhealthy, sky and sun red in certain areas and people are doing a lot of coughing, including me.  God has blessed though, very few caualties of human life, I only know of one.

I read somewhere that there are plants/trees whose seeds can only grow if they've been scarrified by fire! I hate to see people and their belongings injured by these fires, but I'm sure the lightning-initiated fires out there are just a part of God's natural processes. Sometimes we humans settle without particular regard to what happens in any particular portion of countryside...? May God's protection be upon those who do so!
The same might hold true in "hurricane alleys", "tornado troughs", "earthquake plates" (or whatever they're called), "tsumani paths", the foot of active volcanos, etc. This earth and all its workings are certainly complex! But not nearly as complex as all the life He has created upon it...and mankind the most complex of all. To think that each of us has been in His Mind since before the foundation of the world (Ps 139) is staggering, and well beyond human comprehension!

Yes, Dieleg there can be the danger that people may have weakened faith in God. And, I feel the emphasis should be on the spared lives, for which we must continue to be thankful. My prayer that I pray in all disasters is that someone that does not know God will come to know Him in the post disaster phase. He can rebuild all that concerns them and give them a new life to go along with it. In a big earthquake in Los Angeles I was afraid that I might die without being totally ready for eternity. Afterwards, I got ready and have been serious with the Lord ever since. Good things can come out of all this. The coming together of communities, volonteers and just people helping people is a major plus that will soon overshadow what has happened. I do pray that all will have replaced what's lost although some things,(for sentimental value), can never be replaced. Thanks for reminding us to pray for the faith of the fire victims not to fail them in the days, months and years to come

GOD IS GOOD, HOWEVER SATAN TEMPS US WITH THOUGHTS THAT GOD CANNOT STILL BE PRAISED IN CIRCUMSTANCES LIKE THESE. PEOPLE ARE LOOSING HOMES AND PROPERTY BUT I PRAY THEY DONT LOOSE FAITH IN GOD!

Thanks for the update...heard that on the news this week too!!! I am also affected by the smoke from the fires here, and that is why I have chosen to go out only when I have too!!
Hopefully, we will see things improve soon, and there will be no more loss of homes and no more injured people or even deaths from this.
Have a good weekend, I see the weather is warming up nicely up in your area...when that happens you are blessed!! It is usually cold there, no matter what time of year it is!!
