Belonging to AARP needs to be less about what we can do for ourselves and more about the real and meaningful action we can take for our children and grandchildren. The older we are, the less we have to lose - so, we should be laying it all on the line for making this a better, more truthful world!

And, one other thought....

My husband and I are celebrating our 30th anniversary this year and have had - and do have - an ecstatically happy marriage!   I'm not looking for relationships.   I simply would like to network with people who are of like mind with me; who, as I do, understand how important it is for all of us to be prime movers in problem solving.  If anyone can offer solutions to the myriad problems heaped on us by our ailing government, it is those of us who have reached an age to finally understand what we see and hear coming from Washington D.C.!

CeeLee says:
You are right...life IS how you see it! And, the way I see it is that those of us who are old enough to know better, ought to do SOMETHING to curb the voracious appetite of some in Washington who have socialist leanings. Our country became great because we placed a value on individualism. The new emphasis of placing the cornerstone value on the collective will be our undoing. I told my husband at dinner tonight that of all people, it is we "senior" citizens who are most capable of doing something about it. As I look at the beautiful eyes of my grandchildren...and as I watch our children (all four of them are wonderful, contributing members of our society) work hard to provide and prepare for the future -- as I see them, I feel as though we (senior citizens) are letting down this wonderful generation coming up behind us, through our virtual silence. Well - for tonight, I guess I'll go have a glass of bordeaux and think about it some more. Thanks for your thoughts, Jean...best regards, CeeLee

How can anybody at any age understand what is coming from Washington. I am to the point that I just think everything I hear is untrue in some way and I don't even bother to try to figure out where the truth is. I, honestly, don't think any one is particularlly lying nor do I think they are telling the truth. Life is how you see it (lol). Congratulations on your anniversary. Stay happy. Jean
