Dinner Is Ready

Dinner Is Ready
I never know if I should call it "dinner" or "supper". Did you know that in Scotland that lunch is called "dinner"?
Cassamoto says:

Well - I lived in Scottland as a kid & also in Iowa - where is was dinner & supper. But when my kid sister & I were in Iowa, we ordered a "soda" & were served ice cream sodas. We didn't have enough money to pay, so we told the owners our story & they just laughed & said it was "on the house". Here in St. Louis, the melting pot, you hear all kinds of mixed references & it can be very confusing at times

Yes, my parents said they used to call lunch "dinner" back in New Jersey. Most of my dad's family was originally from the Manchester area, near Scotland. Guess that's where it came from. They had a hard time switching to the western lingo out here in Colorado, like "pop" vs. "soda" and "bags" vs. "sacks." My dad even had a bit of a Jersey accent when I was younger but he lost it over the years
