When you buy a hundred year old house... fix up is an ongoing thing, but... my hubby;s a putterer and there's nothing major looming. The house was relatively sound. It's true that they don't build 'em like they used to. Plumbers, carpenters, and handymen work for pretty cheap out here too... and yes, we often barter for services.

Full grown chickens are pretty nasty powers to be reckoned with. You would have to keep the chicks caged but no cat's a match for a full grown rooster.

You're gonna love it out here. ;)

Hi! I recently retired in Oklahoma. I grew up in Lynn, MA. I'm actually a couple of hours from OKC but I thought you might like a little preview of the property we bought in 1997 for $27,000.

Hi Jo,
Thanks so much for sharing the pics from your property in Oklahoma. Seems like you got a fantastic deal on the place!! Will you have to do any "fix up" work or can you live there as is. I love your chicken coop and chicks. I would like to have some chickens here, but we are hosting 3 feral cats, unfortunately for us. And make no mistake, they are killers.

We are so ready to make the move to OK to retire near our son, but we have at least 3 more years here in CT.

Hope you'll have a wonderful and long autumn in OK.
Linda
