I don't know anything about "Puzzle Pages" or why your criticisma were directed to me. To be completely frank, I fell way too many motions and too much time are required to get around and get messages on this new site.
I FOR ONE WOULD LOVE TO HAVE THE FORMER "PUZZLE PAGES" RETURNED TO
THEIR WELL LOVED AND ESTEEMED POSITION ON MY COMPUTER. THIS NEW SITE
IS OF VERY LIMITED USE FOR ME! TOO MUCH WASTED SPACE! GIVE ME A BREAK!!!!! LJRAHN@AOL.COM
IN MY OPINION, AS A THREAD, THESE POSTS ARE INVERTED:
My 1-30-08 post, to which you appear to be responding, shouldn't appear on top. Yours are the most recent and thus more newsworthy. And where is Betsy's post which originated the thread (and to whch I was replying)??
The ladies taking cruises with Dancing Over The 7 Seas pay a very hefty surcharge to travel, dine and dance with hosts who are there to dance with them--and only them--at matinee and evening dances every day. The 7 Seas group had 20 ladies and 10 hosts on the cruise I was on a couple weeks ago. The aforementioned surchage paid for the passages of all those gentlemen but the hosts rotated among the ladies according to "dance cards" which assured the females a partner, if they wished, for 50% of all the numbers the bands played.
A spectacular female dancer (actually a teacher from Maine) approached the 7 Seas head guy before the cruise with the same question you pose: How about selling some cruises to guys who'd like to be in a group with lady dance hosts? Maybe it was cynicism, but he feels guys able to book two passages seem to have little trouble finding decent dance partners (and cabinmates).
Going on my own--not as a host--I joined 35 dancers from my favorite Florida studio also on the cruise. I danced with ladies in both groups -- and with the spectacular female from Maine (who was off-limits to the 10 hosts).
When's the next cruise? Soon, I hope, if I'm asked to be a host...
