I had a stroke in November and it was a real wake up call. My weight was 220, blood pressure high, cholesterol high and I'm a diabetic as well. I've lost 20 lbs since the stroke but can't seem to loose any more. Also trying to find a diet that will deal with the cholesterol, the diabetes as well as weight loss has my head spinning. I've been all over the web in every site that seems to offer help. Oh, and don't forget the triglycerides...... My doctor was pleased that I seem to be headed n the right direction but I seem to have hit a wall as far as loosing any more weight is concerned. Also have to deal with depression.
Hi, I'm new to AARP and read your journal. Keep a chin up on your stroke recovery. It sounds like you are doing everything right to improve your health. It takes time. We have a history of strokes in my family and I agree that there's a lot out there on the web that can keep your head spinning. Just try to take it all in stride one day at a time. After a while, you learn what works best for you and become more comfortable. Losing 20 pounds is terrific! My doctor says to lose weight slowly over time is better than trying to drop weight too fast. The faster you loose the quicker it returns. Keep in touch and remember, you're not alone. Cheers!
