About Me

I am a wife, mother, and grandmother who loves the Lord and my family. I taught first grade until my first son was born, and have been an interpreter for the Deaf for many years. We have three grown and married children, their dear spouses, and eight darling grandchildren ranging from 3yo-12yo, who are all a very integral part of our lives. We have three very quirky characters for pets...two dogs and a cat

Interests:
BIRDS: I feed, watch, and paint birds PAINTING: I paint (acrylics, watercolor, oils) on anything that will stand still long enough, including murals for family homes, canvases, wood pieces. I design and paint cards as I practice new techniques. SEWING: I sew all the lab shirts for my dentist-son (who is 6'5") and my school-nurse daughter-in-law (who is 5'3") since they have unique fitting needs. I fill requests for "Gramamma" to create costumes (king suits, princess dresses, dinosaurs. robots, etc) and to mend well-loved toys. I also love quilting. KNITTING & CROCHET: I've knitted/crocheted little dresses for my daughter, granddaughter, and a friend's baby girl. Also I've made many dishcloths, since they're quick projects and give me the fun of different patterns (I think I like the knitted ones best for actual use in the kitchen). I have many uncompleted slower projects in the works, which I hope to finish before I leave this earth. HOSPITALITY: We have a monthly "Deaf Potluck" in my home that usually stretches all day and into the night. There's always lots of food and fun for the 15-20 folks who always show up, and it gives me good reason to straighten and clean up the house! I am always open for any excuse to invite family and/or friends in. GOD & CHURCH: My relationship with the Lord has first priority in all else I do. In our church I'm active on the Visual Arts Team, and have participated in our art shows. For the Drama Team, I've helped with painting scenes and sewing costumes. Twice I have had the great joy of interpreting intense concerts by Damaris Carbaugh...once at a Word of Life women's retreat, and last year in our own church here in Upstate New York. I've also interpreted church services and taught Deaf adult Sunday School and occasional home Bible studies for many years, starting back in 1979

  BEAUTIFUL CHRISTIAN SISTER...by Maya Angelou

A woman's heart should be so hidden in Christ that a man should
have to seek him first, to find her.

When I say...I am a Christian I'm not shouting I'm clean
living. I'm whispering 'I was lost, now I'm found and forgiven.'

When I say...'I am a Christian, I don't speak this with pride,
I'm confessing that I stumble and need Christ to be my guide.

When I say... I am a Christian, I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak and need His strength to carry on.

When I say... I am a Christian... I'm not bragging of
success. I'm admitting I have failed and need God to clean my
mess.

When I say... I am a Christian I'm not claiming to be perfect,
my flaws are far too visible, but God believes I am worth it.

When I say... I am a Christian... I still feel the sting of
pain. I have my share of heartaches, so I call upon His name.

When I say...I am a Christian I'm not holier than thou, I'm just a simple sinner.
Who received God's good grace, somehow!

Pretty is as pretty does...but beautiful is just plain
beautiful!

EVERY DAY IS BEAUTIFUL CHRISTIAN SISTERS' DAY.

*...AND TO MY BEAUTIFUL CHRISTIAN BROTHERS, just change the word "woman" to "man", for this writing certainly describes you, too!
