As for costs, we can't afford NOT to fix what's broken with our health care system. If we do nothing, health care costs will continue to rise at least 60% over the next 10 years. The longer we wait, the more expensive it will become for all of us - individuals, families, business and government. The President and Congress have committed to producing legislation that will be paid for so it won't saddle our children and grandchildren with debt. It's important to note that this is just the first round in the legislative debate. There are going to be revisions to the bill, including how much it costs and how it is paid for. AARP will continue working to ensure that the final bill is balanced, reduces health care costs, and offers our members affordable, quality health care. There are many ways to eliminate wasteful spending and inefficiencies from Medicare while still improving the quality of care. By lowering the cost of prescription drugs, reducing preventable hospital readmissions and eliminating overpayments to private insurance companies, we can help improve care, lower costs and strengthen the program

AARPTX says:

To be clear, AARP has not endorsed any comprehensive health care reform bill. We are fighting for a solution that improves health care for ALL Americans. We have been working with leaders from both sides of the aisle for many, many months, and will continue to do so. On a host of issues - like expanding access to home- and community-based services, bringing generic versions of biologic drugs to those who need them, and providing a follow-up care benefit to help Medicare patients avoid costly hospital readmissions - AARP has worked with members of both parties to introduce bipartisan legislation we will fight to see included in health care reform. The final package will include a mix of ideas from both parties and both houses of Congress. At the end of the day, the standard that AARP will use to judge the legislation in simple: Will this legislation improve our health care system and provide peace of mind to our members and their families?

AARP is being dishonest in saying it doesn't "endorse" a plan. AARP should then stop being represented at press conferences with the President.

Big question: If government hasn't been able to keep Medicare solvent, why would it be able to keep this solvent? Medicare is broke because they underestimated costs and overestimated revenues. The government kept adding Congressional pet projects to Medicare to drive up the costs. Now, I'm expected to think that the same people, doing the same thing, will be better, cheaper and more efficient? Let's see Social Security -- Broke, Medicare -- Broke, VA -- Broke and bad, Post Office -- Broke, Cash for Clunkers -- Broke, Military -- no money for body armor, Highway trust fund -- empty, National park Trust Fund -- empty, TVA Trust Fund -- empty..

National health Care --- Soon to be Broke like everything else the federal govt. does

AARPTX says:

AARP has not yet endorsed any comprehensive health care reform plan; however, we share the President's sense of urgency for reform and support many initiatives in Congress that will directly help older Americans. Throughout this process, one of our top priorities has been to make sure coverage is affordable for our members who have trouble finding economical, quality health insurance today.

AARP is supporting Obama's health bill to the detriment of all seniors and most importantly - AARP's members. They seem to be more interested in protecting the lobbing status of the organization than the membership's interest
