I want to extend a big thank you for answering the call to action last week. In less than a half hour after sending out our request to all of you to call Senator Johnson on the CLASS Act, over 200 of you responded to let Senator Johnson know that the CLASS Act was an important part of health care reform and should be included in the Senate health care reform legislation.
I’m proud to say that as a result of your efforts, Senator Johnson has pledged his support for the CLASS Act and will be working with his colleagues to make sure it’s included in the Senate health care reform legislation. Thank you to everyone for making this happen.
And, just as it’s important to make our requests of our elected officials when the situation calls for it, it’s equally important to thank those elected officials when they listen to our concerns and support our positions. So, this week, we’re asking you to call 1-800-944-6723 to be connected to our CLASS Act hotline in order to thank Senator Johnson for supporting the CLASS Act and for working with his colleagues to include this important provision in the Senate Health Care Reform legislation.
Finally, a lot is happening with health reform. Last week a new bill was proposed in the House of Representatives, and AARP is looking at that proposal closely to see how it will impact AARP Members. Additionally, final negotiations are still underway in the Senate on a range of issues but no final health care reform bill has taken shape at this point. Thanks again for your interest and participation in AARP’s health reform campaign.
