eHealth: Better Information Means Better Care

Industries across the world have used information technology to rapidly communicate information, streamline operations, create best practices, reduce costs and improve consumer satisfaction. It's time for health care, one of the largest and fastest growing U.S. industries, to do the same.

New York State is investing in an initiative called eHealth to improve health care, save lives and save money. eHealth uses a secure computer network, instead of paper to store and manage your medical records. You can make information about your health available to doctors and other care providers you choose.

eHealth can help reduce harmful drug interactions or drug overdoses, and in an emergency, your records can be accessed without wasting valuable time. eHealth also saves money and lives by eliminating unnecessary medical tests and potentially dangerous procedures. You also won’t have to fill out the same forms every time you go to a new doctor.

To learn more about eHealth, download the attached brochure or go to www.ehealth4ny.org for additional eHealth resources that will help you make informed, meaningful choices about your health information.
