Smoke Detector Project
In five communities, volunteers installed 40 smoke detectors in the homes of older residents who did not have a smoke detector or one that was no longer functional. Here, Volunteer Duane Bergeson of Bismarck helped install smoke detectors in homes. One of the recipients was Theodor Bahmiller, who had never had a smoke detector in the home in which he has lived for more than 40 years.
