The Bureau of Insurance has received information that Maine consumers are being solicited over the telephone for low cost Medicare supplement insurance. The caller asks for personal information such as Medicare ID number or social security number.
People should not give out this information over the telephone. Anyone with questions about insurance solicitations can call the Bureau of Insurance at 1-800-300-5000 to determine if the solicitor is licensed in the State of Maine.
